Archaeologists carry out excavations ahead of £19 million regeneration of former Spode Works



ARCHAEOLOGISTS working in the grounds of a former pottery factory have unearthed evidence of its once glorious past.

Excavations have been carried out at the Spode Works site - ahead of a £19 million redevelopment scheme.

Planning permission was granted earlier this year for the regeneration of the Church Street site, in Stoke.

It will see some of the buildings converted into 43 artists' studios and student accommodation and several other buildings demolished.
